State Of Decay 2 has just dropped a pretty big update for its player base. The update addresses a bunch of issues which have been affecting its players all while adding improvements into the game. Check out all the patch notes of Update 36 of State Of Decay 2.
State Of Decay 2 Update 36
Quality Of Life Improvements and Tweaks
- Rucksack deposits are now possible at upgraded outposts (Level 2 or higher).
- Now that containers have a “Take All” action, survivors must seize everything and go!
- Personal things can now be moved and shuffled around more easily thanks to the new ‘Drop Item’ action that can be accessed directly from Containers. Vehicle Storage (Trunks) has also been updated with this move.
- Certain ranged weapons in the Supply Locker now have the option to have their weapon attachments removed without first needing to be equipped.
- Instead of appearing once each community. The Cannibals and Zombie Trappers enclaves can now appear once per map.
- Minor bloater improvements: You no longer feel or appear to have been unfairly damaged because the VFX and gas burst damage are more appropriately matched. In retaliation, the Bloaters will now attempt to approach your survivor just a little bit closer before blowing up.
- Improved completion counter for curveballs with goals. For instance, deposits for Under the Weather and Missing a Few Bolts will now display 0/3 rather than 0/1 three times.
- A little adjustment that might enable more characters to acquire the Blood Plague Survivor trait.
- More options in terms of new randomly generated character names and nicknames have been added to the pool when creating a new survivor.
Black Heart Curveball Tweaks
We made some changes to the Black Heart to make it feel more balanced and less punishing because it has been mentioned that it can be overly dominating in a community, especially when it rolls early.
- Now, the Black Heart Curveball will only show up once six days have elapsed (or two if the map is changing).
- Rather than ending when there is only a tiny amount of health left, the Black Heart Toxic Miasma effect will cease causing damage sooner (at a higher health threshold). The damage per tick remains constant.

- Damage V/O was introduced after absorbing toxic damage to seem more realistic and to provide an extra warning.
- Enhanced Visual Effects in Black Heart Plague Miasma
- For the effect of Black Heart Thick Miasma, the fuel drain speed was decreased.
- Decreased the Black Heart Growing Dominion effect’s growth rate.
- Achieving balance between the fire-resistant Black Heart Zombies’ slower attack times and decreased disease/plague build-up each attack
Bug Fixes
- Edge case for the Trumbull Valley CLEO mission resolved. In the past, it was possible to complete the task without obtaining the CLEO device, which would then prevent you from gaining it.
- Resolved a crash that occurred when trying to access CachedCommunity following a shutdown.
- The Hyper Auditory Mutation Curveball and the Sentinel Mutation Curveball are no longer compatible, it was an awkward combination because they contradict each other.
- Minor enhancements to Curveball Journal. UI clipping was fixed, and the automated font resizing was slightly changed.
- Other textual and localization enhancements.
